REP. CARTWRIGHT STATEMENT ON THE DRAFT SUPREME COURT DECISION TO OVERTURN ROE V. WADE

Today, U.S. Representative Matt Cartwright (PA-08) issued the following statement on the draft Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade:

"Roe v. Wade has been the compromise decision on women's reproductive rights that has stood for almost 50 years. The Alito draft takes the extreme position that women have no such privacy rights at all, under any circumstance. That's a jarring departure from settled law that would open the floodgates to unrestrained government interference in the private lives of American citizens. The Court must not adopt this opinion overturning past precedent, and Congress, in the meantime, must keep working to expand women's access to health care and family planning services and reduce the number of unwanted pregnancies."
